Daryl Foster O.A.M. earned his reputation of being one of the
world's most respected cricket coaches whilst coach for Western
Australia. During his time the team won 9 Sheffield Shields and
7 one day titles. His ability to identify and nurture talent to
test level is second to none. World renowned players who have benefited
from his expertise include Dennis Lillee, Rod Marsh, Kim Hughes,
Terry Alderman, Justin Langer, Damien Martyn and Adam Gilchrist.
Keen
to experience the English game, Daryl moved his family to the UK
and joined Kent County Cricket Club as coach where he stayed
for 6 years. The club enjoyed great success winning its first trophy
for some twenty years.
Daryl's keen interest in bowling techniques
and their relationship to back injuries to fast bowlers led him
to be part of an extensive
research exercise whilst employed as a Senior Lecturer in the Human
Movement and Exercise Science Department at the University of Western
Australia. His work in this area continues, he recently submitted
reports regarding the bowling action of Muttiah Murilitharan and
Shoaib Akhtar on behalf of the International Cricket Council.
Daryl
Foster remains involved in the Department of Human Movement and
Exercise Science at U.W.A. whilst at the same time is Principal
of the University's Hall of Residence, Currie Hall.
Dennis Lillee
and Daryl Foster set up the M.R.F. Fast Bowling Academy in India.
Daryl was the bowling coach for Sri-Lanka during
the
2002 tour of England and was the bowling coach to Pakistan
in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.
Daryl Foster now sits as one of the only seven board members of Cricket Australia.
