ACE recognise that Australia, may on occasions, feel a long way from home for the young cricketer. Ian and Joy Thacker are always on hand and keen to help with any issue that is getting in the way of the cricketer having an amazing adventure. The youth team from several local churches often join in some of the fitness training sessions and enjoy the friendships they make with the Academy boys over the season. Most Academy boys will want to take up invitations to join these guys for beach bbq's, fishing trips or a round of golf during their time with us.

Religious Worship
Australia is a Christian country although with such a large migrant population most religions are represented. A.C.E. will be happy to provide details of locations and worship times for different faiths. Ian and Joy have a strong relationship with Rory Shiner, Pastor, UNI Church. Some of the Academy cricketers are involved in their weekly soccer outreach programme. They are always very welcome to go along to their worship services and join social events.

When possible christian professional sportsmen are invited to chat about their faith with the Academy cricketers. In January 2006 Shaun Pollock was in Perth for the South African Test Series and joined the Academy to share his Christian testimony.
