Game On
There is no where else in the world with wickets like those in Perth. Mention the WACA and immediately you think of the hardest and fastest wicket in the world. You will have the opportunity of experiencing playing cricket on the fast, bouncy pitches that Perth is so renowned for. All the famous Western Australian players started their cricketing careers on the grounds that you will play on during this cricket tour.
First Class Cricket Coaching
An important element of the ACE On Tour programme is to work alongside your school's cricket squad to improve their overall performance when on the field. Included in the package are six professional cricket coaching sessions.
During the two hour net sessions your cricketers will be batting, bowling, fielding or wicket keeping under the guidance of world renowned cricket professionals and top cricket coaches. During the group sessions and on a one-to-one basis the young cricketer will receive input followed by ample time to practice the new skills.
James Oval, situated in the heart of the University of Western Australia will be the venue for the coaching and net sessions. Innovative fielding drills will be run on the oval alongside.
Fitness Training
Physical fitness is crucial to improve every facet of the cricketer's game. It is never too early to introduce and develop good training habits. Your team's fitness guru works daily with Australian and UK top cricketing professionals and will guarantee your schools fitness sessions are specific to the needs of the game of cricket. Reputed for his exciting training style he will utilise the natural beauty spots in and around Perth for your fitness training ground. Beach sprints and hill running in Kings Park to name but a few.
The young cricketers in your school team on this coaching programme will leave fitter, faster, and stronger and take with them lasting images of the beauty of Perth. On this programme doing the ‘hard yards’ will be fun.
Sports Psychology
They say that 80% of cricket is played in the head. Your school team has the opportunity to work with Dr Sandy Gordon, Senior Lecturer at the School of Human Movement and Exercise Science at UWA teaches Sport and Exercise Psychology and Sport Sociology.
Typical topics to motivate and inspire your young cricketers may include:
1. Planning and Preparation
Your cricket team will be encouraged to consider a 'total approach' to their game. The skills you would need to succeed in any other discipline are just as important in cricket. Cricketers need to know how to plan their success, target their performance, measure their effectiveness and evaluate their game.
2. Teambuilding
Your schools young cricketers need to know their role in a team game, both as an individual and as part of the team. The results of a team that work well together often harvest the benefits at the end of the match!
3. Behaviour and Emotions
Another area your cricketers should consider is the impact their behaviour and emotions has on their game. This workshop will challenge the thinking of the young players and encourage them to review and try out the disciplines that have taken many of today's great players to the top.
4. Diet and Nutrition
Bodies need fuel. The type of fuel will be different dependant upon the demands we intend to place on the body. Your team of cricketers need to know what will give them strength for tomorrow's match, what will give them energy during the game and a sensible eating plan for those times in-between.
